Golf in Carvoeiro and other areas of Portugal

GOLF

in the Algarve is a great way to spend a day and the peak times for golfers in the region are during the autumn and the spring months. In the summer months the courses are all very quiet, mainly because of the very hot temperatures that makes even the most relaxed game result in coming out in a sweat. To have the best game during the summer months then you need to play either before 9.30am or after 4.30pm and there are special offers available at most courses for twilight sessions.

The local courses have a very relaxed feeling and are not snobby in their feel. Where handicaps are required it will be very rare that you are actually asked to produce your card and on some course in the region the handicap is a guideline rather than a requirement. Although things are generally very relaxed here do remember to wear golf shoes and a shirt with a collar on most of the course, if you need equipment most courses will have an area where everything can be hired. For the best round of golf always remember to take a hat, plenty of water and to apply more sunscreen than you think!

Over the years the Algarve has gone from being a bucket and spade destination to one of the most highly regarded golfing destinations in the world. Love it or hate it, golf is a hugely important industry in the region with a vast choice of 36 courses along the Algarve for golfers of all levels. It can be difficult to know exactly where to start with so much choice but it is worth looking close to home for an introduction to golf in the Algarve. If you are based in Carvoeiro then you have three course on your doorstep. Golfcourses around Carvoeiro: QUINTA DO GRAMACHO, VALE DE PINTA and VALE DE MILHO
